It was rumored a while back about Sony and Sharp getting together in the production of LCD TVs, well it seems as if these rumors were true. The new production plant which is being constructed in Sakai is to cost $3.5 billion.
The new production facility is to open in 2010 and will produce 72,000 Sharp and Sony HDTVs each months. Early reports suggest that Sharp owns two thirds of the business, while Sony owns the reaming third.
