Samsung are hoping to set the benchmark in black levels by an LCD TV and hope to even do better that Plasma TV’s, the Samsung LE52F96 52-inch LCD TV also claims to offer a mind-numbing 500,000:1 contrast ratio and if the HDTV can achieve this then all those Plasma screens had better watch out.

How the Samsung LE52F96 manages to achieve such deep black levels is by using their LED backlight technology and then selectively dim the areas of the screen that are showing black, then the TV will increase the contrast on the lighter areas of the TV.

The TV offers full HD at 1920 x 1080, and connections are not a worry as there are three HDMI 1.3 sockets, which is more than enough for all the items that you want to connect to the television.

The Samsung LE52F96 LCD TV will cost about £2,700.
