The Planar PD7060 is the company’s first projector for the UK market, Planar say that this DarkChip3 DLP projector has remarkable value for money considering the superb image quality that the projector offers. Many of us in the UK would not even have heard of Planar, but if the PD7060 is anything to go by then it is a brand that we in the UK can expect to hear more of.
What will make the PD7060 DarkChip3 DLP projector like more of Planar’s future consumer electronics equipment is the company’s aggressive pricing along with quality products. The design of the projector s you will notice is of a black glossy colour with a silver trim with has a rounded shape to it.
At the heart of the PD7060 is Texas Instruments’ DarkChip3 (DC3) DLP chipset, this is somewhat of a surprise as you would expect to pay much more money than the £1,750 price tag for this kind of technology. Using this chipset helps to improve the contrast and allows for better motion as well.
The Planar PD7060 projector has a resolution of 1280 x 720; the projector has a HDMI input as well as a universal M1-DA affair.
The Good: Nice design and great image quality
The Bad: DLP sometimes gives a rainbow effect
