American electronic consumer products do seem to have trouble when it comes to making an impact on the UK market, but Planar are hoping to turn this trend around with the release of the new PD7010 DLP projector. Lets get one thing clear before we start, the Planar PD7010 is an entry-level projector which is one of the best markets they could hope to break.
First impressions are good with its curved design and high gloss finish, it is as if a Samsung TV has morphed itself into a DLP Projector. If like most people you find it hard to set things up, you will be pleased to know that this projector is one of the simplest to set up, some would say a bit to easy.
The native pixel count is 1,280 x 720 with a contrast ratio of 2,500:1, do not worry that the contrast ratio is lower on the Planar PD7010 than other models, as this is a true figure and does not lower the brightness in order to try and increase the contrast ratio.
The connection are far better than you would imagine for an entry-level system, with one HDMI, two digital video inputs, one DVI, video inputs and a PC Jack.
