IF you think that this Ambilight system is just for show, then you are mistaken as the colours that appear on the screen are extended onto the frame, this gives you are better and warmer feel to the images.

The Philips Aurea 42PFL9900D TV is not all about looks either as it has Full HD, so has the picture quality to back itself up. To help deliver it’s picture quality is Philip’s Perfect Pixel HD Engine processing, so all standard images are upscaled to HD resolution, this system also cleans up all the noise , and with the 100HZ all images are left looking clean, crisp and sharp.

A real surprise is just how good the black levels are, and the TV has a superb high contrast which makes any movie look good. The conclusion is that this TV really does perform very well in all areas, but you have to ask yourself, would you spend the extra money for Ambilight technology.
